Fabulous Favorites Challenge

I'm playing along today with Laurie's Fabulous Favorites challenge for Papertrey Ink.  The challenge this time is to use your favorite stand-alone die to create a card.  It just so happened that I made my hubby a Valentine this month that fits the bill perfectly!!

I absolutely love the versatility of the clock face from the Hands of Time set of dies.  It's one of the very first die sets that I ever purchased, and I have used it on lots of cards over the years.  In this instance, I cut the clock face in half rather than use the entire piece.

Since I wanted some extra texture on this particular card, I chose to diecut my clock face and the clock hands from textured card stocks in gunmetal gray and gold.  I also diecut the numbers using Number Time Trio dies from the same gold cardstock.

Since the background is rather busy, I decided to glue my diecuts onto a piece of vellum and then trim off the excess around the clock face.  The vellum softens the background that shows through, so that the clock doesn't get "lost" in the background.

The background panel is a piece of the Dearest Jane patterned paper which I stamped with keys from the Lock & Key stamp set.  I also used a sponge dauber to distress the edges of the panel.  The sentiment comes from the same stamp set.

I added a little bit of bakers twine and a cute metal key embellishment for the finishing touches.

Most of the products on this card are from Papertrey Ink.  The exceptions are the patterned paper, bakers twine, and the key embellishment.  The dies used to cut the sentiment piece are from My Favorite Things.
