Random Cards

Here are some random cards that I made before I started this blog.

Too many techniques and products to go over in one post.  But I wanted to share the photos.  :)

Winter birthday

I made this card for my mom's birthday last winter, before I started this blog.

I used the Papertrey Ink In The Meadow stamps and dies for this card.  The colors didn't photograph very well, but I LOVED how well the card turned out!  It was so pretty in person!

Happy Bee Day!

This is a fun card I made for a friend's birthday.

Here's another view that shows the sparkle I added to the wings using Stickles.

Have a happy day!

Got Wiener Envy?

I'm the proud owner of two spunky little dachshund dogs named Roxie and Bailey.

So when There She Goes Stamps released their Doxie With Moxie stamp set, I was elated!  Two of my co-workers are doxie owners as well, so I made this card for Miranda, who is the mom of "Frankie" (Frankfurter) and "Oscar" (Meyer) the wiener dogs, for her birthday.

There are always wiener jokes being thrown around at work, so this sentiment was truly perfect!  I love how my card turned out!

And what's a card without a cute matching envelope?  Love these stamps!

Grunge birthday

Just a real quick post of the card I made for my niece, Jessica.  I used the rock-n-roll technique to blend different colors of ink on my stamps before stamping them on the paper.

This card had to travel all the way to Arizona, so I kept it down to just two layers.

And here is the necklace I made for her gift.  It's a mother's necklace since she had her first child a few months before.

This was my first attempt at stamping on metal.  I was happy with the results, but I'd like to get another font for future use.  Jessie was sensitive to nickle as a little girl, and I wanted this to be something nice enough to last so I used all sterling silver pieces.   The gem is a Swarovski crystal.

You brighten my day!

Here's a fun little card I made as a thank you for a friend.  I ADORE this Summertime Charm stamp set from Lawn Fawn!

The firefly is my favorite part of this set and the aura of light that goes with him.  I couldn't wait to break these stamps out and play with them!

I also made a matching envelope to mail it in.

I used a Stardust pen to add some subtle shine to the wings on my fireflies.  I'm sure I'll be revisiting this stamp set often!

Good fortune

I wanted to make an interactive card for my niece, Kaitlyn, for her birthday, so I pulled out my Lawn Fawn Good Fortune stamps and got to work.  I used some old patterned paper for my card panel and PTI Winter Wisteria for my card base.  I cut a slit in the patterned paper behind my fortune cookie so that the fortune could slide in and out.

To be honest, I wasn't all that happy with the end result of this card.  I feel like the background paper was too busy, and my creativity just wasn't up to my own expectations.  However, for a 9-year-old girl, I think it was cute enough.  :)  I'm sure she tossed it aside and went for the Barbi dolls anyway!  LOL

Time is precious

This is a card I made quite some time ago and apparently forgot to post.

Stamps by Papertrey Ink:  Happiness in Bloom and Hands of Time
Die by Papertrey Ink:  Hands of Time
Paper by Papertrey Ink:  Ripe Avocado & Stamper's Select White
Inks by Papertrey Ink and Memento
Stampin' Up Dimentionals
Other supplies:  vellum paper & rhinestones

Here's another view to show the depth of the card.

I just love these two stamp sets!  I have a feeling I'll be using them quite a bit!

Snow already?

A couple of weeks ago we had our first dusting of snow for the season here in Central Illinois.  [Followed closely by a tornado, but that's a story for another day.]  Anyway, I felt so inspired by the snow, and I had recently purchased the Yeti, Set, Go stamp set from Lawn Fawn; so I decided to make a card for my hubby who is a huge fan of the yeti and Big Foot.  I've been waiting for just such an occasion as this to break out this stamp!

I started with a piece of Hawaiian Shores paper for my card base and used Stamper's Select White for my card panel.  The trees were die cut from patterned paper and stamped with Archival Jet Black.  I used Hawaiian Shores Ink to stamp the snowflakes.  I made the snowdrifts by covering some white card stock with Be Creative tape and Glitter Ritz Cool Highlight glitter; then I tore strips of the paper to create my drifted snow.

I don't think I've ever made a card with this type of pull tab before, so that was new and fun!  I love an interactive card!

I stamped my Yeti with Memento ink on blending card and colored him with Copics.  I also fussy cut him out with my Cutter Bee scissors and an Xacto knife.  I popped up my trees with pop dots that were slightly thicker than the one used behind my Yeti, so that he could slide behind more easily.

Here you can see how he slips right in behind the trees.  It adds some extra depth to the card too!  I added some Stickles to my tree branches and snow flakes for some extra sparkle.

This is how my hubby chose to display him on the shelf in our living room.  He is cheerfully watching over us and making us smile!  He's such a happy little Yeti, and he LOVES the snow!  :)
