A Handmade Christmas

Did everyone have a great Christmas?  We certainly did!  And now that it's over, I thought I'd post pictures of the ornaments I gave to friends as Christmas gifts.  These are glass ornaments that I coated on the inside with Glitter-it liquid and then glitter.  I decorated the outsides with vinyl letters cut with my Silhouette Cameo, feathers, crystals and ribbon.

I was so happy with the outcome using Glitter-it and microfine glitter!  It coats perfectly and there is SO much sparkle!!  I absolutely love how glittery and gorgeous these turned out to be!

Twelve Tags of Christmas Entry 5

Here's another tag for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2013 challenge.

Kelly Alvarez created the Day 5 card and it's adorable!

I loved her idea of a female yeti so I decided to make my own.

I started with a blue tag and stamped some falling snow in white ink.  I used white paper to create my hand cut snow drifts.  My trees were stamped on patterned paper and fussy cut.  I colored my two yetis with Copics and fussy cut them as well.  They are popped up with pop dots.

This view shows the dimension a little better.  Yetis love a snow day!!!

Twelve Tags of Christmas Entry 4

Hello again, and welcome to entry number 4 for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2013 challenge.

The tag from Day 4 was created by Kittie Caracciolo, and I think it's my favorite so far!

Here is tag I created.

I started with some pretty blue paper and stamped the trees in white ink then embossed them with white embossing powder.  I stamped the falling snow with the white ink, but did not emboss them.  I created my snow drifts by applying Be Creative tape to some white cardstock and I covered it with some microfine glitter.  Then I just popped up my die cut birds and child with some pop dots.

I'm so in love with this tag!!! 

Twelve Tags of Christmas Entry 3

I'm back with another tag for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2013 challenge.

My inspiration today is from Day 3 of the challenge with Ronda Palazzari.

I felt drawn to that bright pink bird and the shiny silver sentiment, so I came up with this...

 I started with a bright pink tag and stamped the image and sentiment in silver ink.  Then I sprinkled on some silver embossing powder and heat embossed it.  I used a scrap of cardstock to create my silver stripes by inking it up with the same silver ink and embossing it with silver embossing powder.  Then I cut it into strips and glued them to my tag.

I really love this little dove image from Stamp TV.  It's such a cute little doodle!

Twelve Tags of Christmas Entry 2

Here again with another tag for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2013 challenge.

I was inspired this time by Julie Ebersole on Day 2 of the challenge.

 

I like how she used just gold and white for her tag so I did the same, and here is the result.

I started by stamping both my image and the sentiment in Delicata GoldenGlitz, but I wasn't happy with it so I stamped over it with Versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder.  Much better!

Twelve Tags of Christmas Entry 1

I'm playing along today with Ellen Hutson's the CLASSroom in their 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2013 challenge.

My inspiration for today is from Day 1 of the challenge; this tag made by Jennifer McGuire...

I liked the watercolor look of this tag, so I decided to use my new Inktense watercolor pencils on my tag.

I stamped this image from Northwoods Stamps in some waterproof ink and then lightly [and sloppily] colored it in with my Inktense pencils.  Then I dipped a brush in some water and lightly painted over the image.  After it was dry, I added some stickles onto the trees to look like glittery snow.  Added some velvet ribbon and viola! 

Rusty Pick-em'-up Truck

I recently saw this card on the Tobi's Place blog and I absolutely fell in love with her rusty pick-up truck!  My dad's birthday was this week, and he's an automotive and marine mechanic so this stamp was too perfect; I HAD to have it! 

Here is the card I created.

It's practically an exact copy of the inspiration card, but I just LOVE it!  I used the same combo of Copic marker colors for my truck except that I couldn't find YR27 at any of my local shops, so I just went without that one.  As a result, my truck doesn't look as rusty as Tobi's did.

I used the Flourishes Spruce collection of Copics on my pine boughs so they would look like the tree in my front yard.  The snow is made with Liquid Applique and sprinkled with glitter before I used the heat gun.  And the ornaments on the Christmas tree were made with cranberry, copper and gold Stickles. 

Here's one more shot to show the dimension and glitter on the snow.

Fore your birthday

Here is a card I made for my boss for his birthday.  One of his favorite past times is golf, so of course I had to channel my inner golfer for this card.  [BTW, my inner golfer sticks to the mini variety, but luckily Papertrey Ink has an appropriate stamp set for the real deal.  LOL]

I really need to get some heavier thread for stitching.  This thread is so fine that it didn't quite give the effect I was hoping for.  Otherwise I was happy with the turn out.  This stamp set has a matching die set that I have not yet acquired so I fussy cut the golf cart with my Cutter Bee scissors. 

I embossed the body of the golf cart with white embossing powder and the tires with black embossing powder.  I did this by creating a mask for the tires which I stuck directly to the stamp before inking it up with Versamark.  Then I peeled off the tire masks before stamping onto my paper.  I heat set the white powder and gave it some time to cool, then I covered it up with another mask and stamped the [lower portion] of the image over the top to get the wheels.  I sprinkled black embossing powder over the wheels and then removed the mask from the golf cart before using the heat gun again.  [My masking paper melts if you hit it with a heat gun.] 

The clouds came from a different PTI stamp set you can view here.  They are stamped with Unicorn white ink onto my background paper.  The other papers used are patterned papers from my stash and PTI Stampers' Select white.
